Plenty of Nice Mutton...
24th June 1918
"Dear Mummy, We have come down here for the morning because I did not think it necessary to begin work until 2 o' clock. The weather has re-assumed a rather unpleasant coldness, but walks and hot coffees help us to enjoy it all the same. When I tell you that there is plenty of nice mutton about, you will probably wish you had come with us! Next time have jolly well got to come."
Lots of Love, Baby & Bert

"A Happy New Year to my dear little girl, and I hope the cold will be as much better as the weather is, so that you may come to us.
You are to sleep in my bed while I am away!!! But I shall not be away all your visit, so you will see as much of me as you will want, I am sure!
Loving wishes to dear Mother, kind regards to Father, and kisses for you and the other baby...as many as you like."
