Ventnor, Isle of Wight 24th June 1918
"Dear Mummy, We have come down here for the morning because I did not think it necessary to begin work until 2 o' clock. The weather has re-assumed a rather unpleasant coldness, but walks and hot coffees help us to enjoy it all the same. When I tell you that there is plenty of nice mutton about, you will probably wish you had come with us! Next time have jolly well got to come."
