Plenty of Nice Mutton...
24th June 1918
"Dear Mummy, We have come down here for the morning because I did not think it necessary to begin work until 2 o' clock. The weather has re-assumed a rather unpleasant coldness, but walks and hot coffees help us to enjoy it all the same. When I tell you that there is plenty of nice mutton about, you will probably wish you had come with us! Next time have jolly well got to come."
Lots of Love, Baby & Bert

Loving wishes to dear Mother, kind regards to Father, and kisses for you and the other baby...as many as you like."

Wartime Bombing Experience in London
Posted to Miss Hull in Garstang Lanchashire - 16th October 1944
"Thanks for your letter. I was sorry to hear that you have been a victim to the 'Flu.' Had you only stuck to steak and onions it would never have got hold of you, I'm sure!
The air raid on London was a bad one...Considerable damage in the Strand - Lyceum and Aldwych theatres etc., and also out at Croydon." JHW
